Jarbidge-Bruneau Rivers
Rafting on the Jarbidge and
Bruneau Rivers is for those seeking a different kind of whitewater rafting
experience. You won稚 find
huge boats loaded with families, or large trips that hit camp like a
Marine invasion. What you
will find is secluded and beautiful desert rivers, impressive canyons,
fast-paced and technical whitewater, abundant wildlife, and great hiking.

Jarbidge River Whitewater.

Narrow and rocky, Jarbidge River.
|
Jarbidge
River
The Jarbidge River is a challenge to the skills of any boatman, but our guides
love the action. Its narrow, full of rocks, and with a gradient of 50ft/mile, it
really moves along. Needless to say its quite a ride. We use 12' oar boats
with one guide and one guest to navigate the class III to V whitewater.
You won't
find a guide to guest ratio like this anywhere else, and the trip is limited to 6 guests. High cliffs form the canyon walls as the river
twists and turns around blind corners.
The river is a slim, green oasis in the middle of the high desert.
When we hike up to the canyon rim, the open country stretches off
in all directions, and swifts, swallows, and eagles swoop overhead.

Bruneau
River
When the Jarbidge reaches the confluence with
the Bruneau, we have a chance to soak in a natural hot springs, and relax
a little as the pace of the river slows.
We often convert one of the boats to a paddle boat so you can get an
even better ride now that we have more water. This is also where those running only
the Bruneau will join the trip.
The Bruneau canyon may be the
prettiest of all the desert rivers. Its sheer walls shade the river corridor
and create a lush oasis in the midst of the rock and sagebrush. Junipers line the
river and many species of birds inhabit this section of canyon. We'll also have some
great class III to IV rapids, with Five-mile Rapid providing the rollicking finally on the last
day.
We offer a six-day Jarbidge/Bruneau combination,
and a four-day trip on the Bruneau only.
The Brunea is a great trip by itself, but we encourage everyone to
treat yourself to the extra two days on the Jarbidge. It
is a river you won稚 soon forget!
