Owyhee River

The Owyhee River in Idaho boasts wild whitewater rafting, incredible scenery, abundant wildlife, excellent hiking, and a feeling of peace and seclusion that makes it easy to leave the outside world behind.

Over the years, the river has carved out a deep, narrow chasm in the sagebrush desert of southwest Idaho.  Thousand-foot sheer walls confine much of the river, and rock falls from the high cliffs form daunting rapids.  Some parts of the river feel like a miniature Grand Canyon, without the crowds.

The Owyhee offers a remarkably wide variety of rapids and scenery.  From mild floats to demanding whitewater, narrow gorges to colorful badlands and sagebrush valleys.  Whether you choose the milder, but beautiful Lower Owyhee, the large rapids and scenery of the Middle Owyhee, or the technical and remote Upper Owyhee, or combine two or three sections for a spectacular longer trip, the Owyhee has something special to offer you.

                    2008 Schedule & Prices

What section should I choose?  They are all fun, but this guide will help you pick the section that's right for you.  You can also choose to run several sections or combine them all for an incredible 15 days of relaxation and excitement!

Upper Owyhee.  This is  tight and technical class III to V, with several possible linings or short portages.   This section gets very little use and is an excellent place to see wildlife.   The narrow canyons are a must see for avid rafters and adventurers.
Price:
$1600.00 for 6 days.
Dates:
April 22-27, May 5-10

Middle Owyhee.  The middle Owyhee has more water, which makes for bigger waves and holes.  This can be some of the most exciting boating anywhere.  Bring an adventurous spirit and be ready for a great time.
Price:
$1500.00 for 6 days.
Dates:
April 27-May 2, May 10-15

Lower Owyhee.  This section has more open country with some amazing colors in the Chalk Hills.  This section is a great family trip and good introduction to desert rivers.
Price:
$1000.00 for 5 days.

May 15-19 (raft or canoe/kayak)

All prices include the use of  our sleeping bags and tents, or you can bring your own gear and receive a $40 discount.
